The global authoritarian turn is characterized by an undermining of fundamental human rights, including the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. As a result, women's and LGBTIQ people's demands for equality and protection against discrimination are under attack around the world.
Russia, Hungary and Turkey are examples of the authoritarian turn in Europe, signified by a weakening of democratic institutions, an erosion of the rule of law, and a shrinking respect for fundamental human rights.
What are the consequences of the global authoritarian turn for Norway? And how can we counteract these developments – globally as well as in our own country?
