Join the Parade

Last year the first Gay Parade in Tromsø ever took place with some 320 participants. This year we aim to be much bigger. We invite people of all ages, genders, creeds and colors to celebrate diversity and plentitude in the Arctic city of Tromsø, hence making the northernmost pride in the world a colorful and lively celebration.

Get dressed for the occasion, be colorful, joyful, proud and gay - and bring your friends.

A QUEER HISTORY LECTURE

Experience a different lecture of history when the story of author Alf Martin Jæger (1895-1967) is revealed. He wrote the first gay novel ever - in 1924.

Alf Martin Jæger wrote several gay themed novels. He was quite brave for his time and fought strongly to decriminalize male homosexuality, which did not happen until 1972, five years after his death.

Chief librarian Runar Jordåen at the Norwegian National Archive for Queer and LHBT History in Bergen takes us through the works of Alf Martin Jæger but also parts of the queer history of Northern Norway.

The lecture is in Norwegian.

Debate: Queer immigrants

Refugee.jpg

Tromsø Arctic Pride and Amnesty Northern Norway are hosting a debate about young queer people fleeing their home countries. We will raise issues such as how Norway as a nation welcomes refugees who flee not only their own country ridden by war and distress, but also from a society in which they cannot live their real love.

We will hear the story of a young Syrian man who fled his country to wind up in Norway. Then follows a debate with representatives from Amnesty Norway, local political representatives and representatives from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

This event will be partly in Norwegian and partly in English and will take place at Student Organization’s café Driv at Storgata 6 on Tuesday November 8th at 7-8:30 pm. Free entrance.

ALL ABOUT SEX AND FEELINGS AND JOY AND SUCH

Have you ever wondered if your feelings are similar to those of others, or do you feel you think too much about sex - or too little? Have you ever thought your fantasies are way out? What does it really mean to get out of the closet? Well, most of us have many similar questions - sexologist and psychiatrist Haakon Aars probably has quite a few answers.

Check in at Tvibit on Wednesday 9th at 7 pm to get updated.
